President/ Clinton J. Roberts & Associates, Inc. Hartford, Connecticut
Founder of a consulting
firm providing services to the criminal defense bar in Federal and State
cases. The firm works directly with defense counsel on a national case
basis assessing and evaluating a case, assisting in preparing strategies
prior to plea negotiations and/or plea agreement. The firm also
prepares written sentencing arguments and memoranda submitted through
counsel of record prior to sentencing. Services also include
investigating backgrounds of clients, mitigating factors, formulating
and presenting written and oral arguments for downward departures,
alternatives to incarceration and prison advocacy.
1978 – 1988 State of
Connecticut Judicial Department, Office of Adult Probation
Senior Probation Officer
Responsible for a select group of probation officers preparing court
ordered presentence reports. Provided assistance to the State of
Connecticut General Assembly researching and advising the Senate
Co-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee regarding potential legislation
impacting the State Judicial Department, probation and pretrial
diversionary programs.
1975-1978 Program
Director – Pretrial Diversionary Project/Community Resources for
Justice, Inc., Hartford, CT.
Supervised a five member staff that selected
criminal cases in the Superior Court in Hartford, Connecticut for
participation in a court sanctioned diversionary program. Prepared the
budget for the program and worked directly with the Executive Director
and the Board of Directors. Presented written and oral arguments to the
court on behalf of selected participants of the program.

formulation of the Fairfield University Legal Studies Program. Planned

restorative justice, alternatives to incarceration and prison policy.
Presented seminars at Fairfield University for students and the
community.
Approved by the United
States District Courts in Criminal Justice Act (CJA) cases including the
2nd & 3rd Circuit as a mitigation and sentencing specialist.
